HomeworkMT – turnkey materials for promoting and training at your library
HomeworkMT is a free online tutoring service available to all Montanans. This Webinar will provide library staff with the tools they need to promote this service and build community awareness. Jo Flick will demonstrate a simple presentation, provide all the slides and handout materials so that participants can have a turn-key training ready to go. Jo will also demonstrate how to find usage statistics, marketing materials and support services from Tutor.com – the vendor that provides HomeworkMT.

The Montana Library as Community Anchor: making libraries relevant and engaged (with Wendy Campbell, Rebekah Kamp, and Debbie Wellman; hosted by Jo Flick)
The Association of Small and Rural Libraries annual conference was held in Raleigh, NC and was attended by Montana librarians Rebekah Kamp, Debbie Wellman, and Wendy Campbell. The participants identified a focal point of Library as a Community Anchor that served as an underlying foundation for the information they would like to share.
Rebekah Camp will introduce the timely concept of library as community anchor sharing information from the workshop, Taking it to the Streets: Community based Advocacy and Engagement. The ARSL workshop led by Jennifer Pearson introduced advocacy and engagement as key components in the successful future of libraries with a focus on ideas that work. The workshop also discussed the Geek the Library campaign that was introduced and promoted throughout the conference. Learn more about Geek the Library at get.geekthelibrary.org.
Wendy will share information about Signature Events for Small Libraries. The workshop led by Cassie Guthrie was a “show and tell” of library fundraisers, successful and unsuccessful, with easy instructions on how to get started.
Debbie will share information about Librarians with Black Belts. The workshop led by James Parrott was based on Warren Graham’s, Black Belt Librarians and concerns library safety and security.

Montana Shared Catalog – Adding URLs to MSC Catalog Records with Melody Condron
Learn how to add a URL/website link to a record in the Montana Shared Catalog. Even non-catalogers can manage these links and add content that will show up for patrons in the patron catalog. Melody will explain the rules and guidelines for these links, as well as how to change the link text so that patrons know what they will find when they click on them.
